Food, Folk Art, and Fun at the Carolina Q Cup
COLUMBIA, SC – The Carolina Q Cup World Barbeque Championship competition will be held in Shed 14 of the Columbia State Farmers Market, 1001 Bluff Road in Columbia from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 28-29, 2005.

Prior to the event on Saturday will be “Anything But” on Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Anything But is the competition in which cookers can prepare and serve “anything but” barbeque. Adding to the festive atmosphere of the evening will be the music of Lundy, a pop-rock band providing an engaging and powerful performance. As one fan put it, “Lyrically, the songs are unique but somehow very familiar; fresh and yet like an old friend. And of course the reason for that is that they are songs about people and life.” For more information about Lundy, visit http://www.lundyband.com/main.html.

Doors will open for the Carolina Q Cup celebration at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29th, judging begins at 11 a.m. and sampling at 11:30 a.m. While tasting barbeque from as many as 40 or 50 competitors, participants will also have the opportunity to roam through the 100,000 square foot building viewing the outsider and folk art on display and listening to more live entertainment.

On Saturday, at the Carolina Q Cup competition, the music will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. by The PlowBoys, a country, rock, bluegrass band and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. by the Carolina Rebels, a bluegrass band. For more information about the Carolina Rebels, visit http://www.expresswebs.com/scbtma/carolina_rebels.htm.

The cost to participate in Anything But to sample everything but barbeque is $5 per person and for the Carolina Q Cup is $10 per person which allows each guest to sample the myriad of barbeques, listen to good music, and view (and purchase) the folk art on display.
